• June 1, 2013: Book Discussion: Saint and Sultan – Author Paul Moses offered insights into the extraordinary meeting between St. Francis of Assisi and Sultan Malik-al-Kamil during the height of the Crusades. The discussion highlighted lessons from their historic encounter, drawing meaningful parallels to contemporary conflicts and the potential for dialogue and peacebuilding.
• June 22, 2013: An all-day program at Hofstra University, held in collaboration with the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center and the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions. Representatives from various faiths, including Sikhs, Muslims, Jews, and Christians, led discussions and presentations throughout the event, promoting unity and strategies to combat hate.
• September 14, 2013: Book Discussion: a thought-provoking discussion with Reza Aslan, author of the bestselling book Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth. Aslan, a scholar of religion, offered new insights into the life and legacy of one of history’s most influential figures and exploring how the Jesus of history differs from the Christ of faith.
