Father William Brisotti, a native of the Bronx, grew up in Glen Cove and was
ordained to the priestly ministry for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville
Centre in June, 1968.
He has had extensive experience in issues related to Latin America since 1964, and
has served people displaced by poverty and civil unrest in Central and South
American countries. On Long Island, for more than five decades, he has advocated
for new immigrants, documented and undocumented, as well as helping in
ecumenical and interfaith efforts to support comprehensive immigration reform.
Father Bill has been assigned as a priest in multicultural parishes in Hempstead,
Farmingville, Central Islip, Brentwood and, especially, in Wyandanch, where he
served in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal parish, first as associate pastor during
the 1970s and early ’80s, and returning as pastor from 1999 until his retirement
from official diocesan ministry in August, 2020.
He serves on not-for-profit boards and is currently a member of the Advisory
Committee of Abraham’s Table of Long Island, fostering a spirit of common
heritage, peace and cooperation among Jews, Christians and Muslims in Nassau
and Suffolk Counties, acknowledging our common ancestry as children of
Abraham, while still respecting the uniqueness of each religion.
